at the service of logistics operators
All the characteristics for sustainable and efficient logistics!
We are committed to the development of sustainable logistics through:
- Promoting sustainable transport
- The creation of synergies between the Port and Interporto by making our facilities available as a driver for the development of multimodal transport
- The use of energy from sustainable sources to power the entire infrastructure
Porto di Livorno
Aereoporto di Pisa
Interporto Toscano Vespucci
Connectivity: at the heart of the Tuscan Logistics System
Interporto Vespucci fully realises its ‘vocation’ by facilitating logistics flows through multimodality, for freight heading to and coming from Europe, Asia and America.
This high-value platform combines the classic road and rail carriers with close proximity to the multi-purpose Port of Livorno and Pisa Airport, in a strategic spot for central and northern Italian markets.
Interporto Vespucci as a core point for the TEN-T
The Vespucci is one of the core structures of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and is also part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor. Thus, it is fully included in the set-up developed by the EU to connect the most important logistical hubs of the various EU countries into a single system. Each network under the TEN-T consists of a set of linear (rail, road and inland waterways) and precise infrastructures (urban hubs, ports, freight villages and airports) considered to be relevant at a European level. Currently, the network counts 9 corridors, functional for the transfer of freight within the European area.
Multimodality and Digitisation: the perfect combination for new opportunities
Interporto Vespucci facilitates the integration of road, port, rail and airport connections, creating opportunities and synergies between the 4 modes of transport that combine and integrate into a single digital operating environment for a dynamic, fluid and efficient management of the logistic flow of freight.
The 4 Modes of transport
Pisa Airport 12 km
Florence 80 km
Pisa 20 km
Rail Intermodality
Rail interconnection networks are the central tool for hitting CO₂ reduction targets by switching from road to rail transport.
The Interporto offers valuable support for multimodal transport, with a direct rail link to the Port of Livorno and a connection to the Livorno Calambrone station.
- OUR RAILWAY TERMINAL:
- 130,000 m²
- 4 TRACKS
- 1 TRANSTAINER CRANE
500 trains per year using the freight village’s logistics infrastructure
Maritime Intermodality
The Highways of the Sea now represent an intermodal hub of excellence for freight logistics, reducing road transport by steering logistics in a more sustainable direction.
Thanks to its close proximity to the Port of Livorno, which boasts national supremacy for RO-RO traffic, Interporto Vespucci can offer its spaces to the Highways of the Sea, providing a range of services inherent to the world of transport.
- OUR HIGHWAYS OF THE SEA TERMINAL:
- 60,000 square metres of yard
- 360 heavy vehicle parking spaces
- 2 fast corridors connecting to the Port of Livorno terminals
Thanks to the Highways of the Sea, 680,000 tonnes of CO₂ have been saved, equivalent to the annual emissions of a city with 1 million inhabitants (source: mit.gov)
The Interporto connects the streams travelling via the Highways of the Sea and the railway.

Air Intermodality
The proximity to Pisa Airport creates opportunities for logistics operators to manage the flow of goods, organising their work in relation to the differing needs of each customer.
Road Intermodality
Interporto Vespucci is located along the FI-PI-LI motorway, to which it is connected via two dedicated interchanges, as well as being a short distance from the A12 motorway toll booths.
Being a vital logistics hub for the urban centres of Pisa, Livorno and their surroundings represents a strategic factor in the development that last-mile logistics that has had, as applied to various recipients, including:
the delivery of freight to factories, the transport of products from central warehouses to shop shelves and the shipping of goods into the hands of the end customer, typically following purchases on e-commerce sites.
Strengthening Connections: Infrastructure Investments
Important investments in infrastructure have been planned to strengthen the Tuscan logistics system by improving connections to regional/national road and rail bases.
In detail, the most interesting projects for Interporto Vespucci are:
- 2024 – a railway overpass for direct connection between Interporto Vespucci and the Port of Livorno
- 2025 – retrofitting Apennine tunnels to allow all types of trailers/semi-trailers to be transported on High Speed rail lines, eliminating bottlenecks
- 2026 – junction project to allow direct rail connection with the national network through the Collesalvetti-Vada section
- 2027 – Darsena Europa, with the Port of Livorno pursuing a major expansion project towards the sea with the European Platform, conceived and designed to accommodate large ships, offering 3 kilometres of quays, 2 large terminals and 2 million square metres of new areas
