Opportunities for the logistics supply chain
In its VISION statement, Interporto Vespucci has clarified its role as a player in the development of an integrated national, Tuscan and territorial logistics system, promoting the transition towards sustainable and technologically-advanced logistics.
As a matter of fact, the Interporto already offers Supply Chain Logistics, as unique opportunities to create modern logistics routes, capable of effectively integrating various modes of transport, contributing to the development of advanced and sustainable logistics models.
4 different modes of transport
Thanks to its geographical location – 5 kilometres from the Port of Livorno and 12 kilometres from Pisa Airport– along with its infrastructure, direct access to the national road network with 2 dedicated exits on the FI-PI-LI freeway and a 130,000-square-metre rail terminal, the Interporto facilitates the integration of road, port, air and rail connections, creating opportunities for synergies between the 4 different modes of transport (Sea, Air, Truck and Rail), which can be combined to achieve ad hoc logistic channels to suit different needs.
The Trans-European Transport Network
The Vespucci is one of the core structures of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and is also part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor. Thus, it is fully included in the set-up developed by the EU to connect the most important logistical hubs of the various EU countries into a single system.
Each network under the TEN-T consists of a set of linear (rail, road and inland waterways) and precise infrastructures (urban hubs, ports, freight villages and airports) considered to be relevant at a European level. Currently, the network counts 9 corridors, functional for the transfer of freight within the European area.

Simplified Logistics Zones
The areas within this Freight Village have been included amongst the reinforced Simplified Logistics Zones, thus making it possible to generate favourable conditions with regard to the legislative system applied to established companies, starting with the possibility of easily creating dedicated customs corridors.
Further InformationDigital Integration and Logistics
The utmost attention is also paid to all aspects pertaining to the digitalisation of flows and handling procedures, with the aim of ensuring that the Freight Village facilities are at the heart of a truly integrated multimodal logistics system.
